Stephen Scott grew up in Fairhope, Alabama, on Mobile Bay. Fairhope has always been known as an artists’ haven. Upon graduating from high school, in 1961 he studied Architecture and then music at Auburn, receiving a bachelor degree in music in 1965 and a masters in 1970. He is a “double” War Eagle. He also holds an MBA from Columbus College. He served in the U.S. Navy and was stationed aboard the USS Damato in Vietnam, remained in the Reserves, and was called back to active duty in 1990. He retired with 28 years service at the rank of Captain. In the early 70s, he was band director at Central High School. His band “Kids” are now eligible for Medicare.
